SINCE showing us that his
perfection of execution was not"just luck" but real mastery :
MAKING A
PAIR ! of his HERRINGBONE-PINEAPPLE
Knot shown in the topic ( second under this one )
Added 2013 February 28th
A small anecdote : the "spiral"" sennit was in its spiral avatar ( 2D
or flat mat ) but it
happened to fall : on hitting the floor it literaly "jumped" into its
helical avatar which proves the inner springiness this structure has.

For once a TOPIC ABOUT UTILITARIAN or TOOL KNOTS and
a
knot published as new
but already in
ABoK
[open quote]
I wonder how many " knot enthusiasts ", in the last
quarter of a
century, had noticed that the Weston knot, presented at 1991, is the
same as the ABoK#1991 knot, presented three quarters of a century
ago... :)

A new clinch knot.

The challenges in this knot:
1) making it using only my knowledge aquired in your pages in French
for the foundation THK (17L 16B) and Dan tutorials for the pineapple
2) Succeeding in tightening it.
I think I did not do too badly.

ENGLISH
Well my friend this knot is a lesson all by itself: the laying of the
cordage routes
and coding is flawless, the dressing or fairing is very neat and the
tighthening or setting has an extreme regularity in tensionning.
A GOOD JOB which is a lesson for all.
Far too many people are obsessed with the cordage route and coding and
forget 50% to 100% of the fairing or dressing phase and of the setting stage which
yield too many knots that are not worth anything as "show knots" but which,
however, have the value of being an "experience" that must be analyzed for profit and progress.

A
WONDERFUL GIFT :A SINGLE STRAND MATTHEW WALKER KNOT
SEND BY Claude HOCHET
A few days ago the postman brought a surprise : Claude has sent to me
his Single-strand Matthew
Walker Knot.
After "looking at all and every seams" (l'avoir
regardé sous toutes les coutures) (In English: after having watch all angles) a French expression meaning
a "very attentive inspection" it went in my glass showcase where I put my treasures.
PLEASE! don't you dare to
say that this is a GAUCHO KNOT or even a GAUCHO
PATTERN as it is NEITHER !
Proof in image
GAUCHO KNOT == REGULAR CYLINDRICAL KNOT hence made on a THK
CORDAGE ROUTE ( so NO Nested-Bightd) with a special STRICT COLUMN
CODING ( in the Horizontal mandrel frame of reference - in the Vertical
Cylinder it would be STRICT ROW CODED - Schaake standardized the TYPE of
CODING PATTERN using the Horizontal
mandrel frame of reference and this is the one that has precedence
but always state which of the two Horizontal/Vertical you
speaking of )
This Stefanos knot is a REGULAR NESTED-BIGHT
CYLINDRICAL KNOT and in the first 1/1000th of a second of seeing the pattern you see that at
both extremity it is NOT a correct GAUCHO PATTERN

From Stefanos FANIDIS : his new bracelet that he designed using ARIANE
Photo
The two grids on the right side are different rendering of the same
grid to help you appreciated the "sliding and re-settling" happening in the dressed and
set knot.
Of course you will not have missed that on this cordage route a 3-PASS
STANDARD HERRINGBONE CYLINDRICAL KNOT ( NOT , certainly NOT a
Herringbone PINEAPPLE ) was possible and that once more Stefanos prove his
inventiveness in changing the CODING PATTERN applied to that CORDAGE ROUTE

From Stefanos FANIDIS : his new bracelet for his daughter.
Very nice STANDARD HERRINGBONE 2-PASS ( not to be confused
with Standard Herringbone-Pineapple which have nested bights while
this one have not ) made of two REGULAR CYLINDRICAL KNOTS or THK 7 L 25 B
Having 2-PASS avoids the problem of complying with any sequence of
tying as this problem arise for Standard Herringbone only ABOVE 3-PASS. ( see this page , this one and this one )
Note that with ARIANE as the table is generated by the program there is
no problem with the sequence which is "eliminated" by the particular way ARIANE works
