STICKY   CAVEAT : I AM NOT THE CREATOR OF ARIANE AND GET NO MONEY FROM IT. THE AUTHOR IS CLAUDE HOCHET

Added 2012 March 10 and completed 2012 April 16th

just a reminder : THE Pineapple == Standard Herringbone-PineApple Knot

SOME FOOLISH AND DISHONEST GUYS ARE TRYING TO
TAKE US FOR A RIDE WITH EGREGIOUSLY MISTAKEN
GRIDS.

THOSE GUYS OVER THERE ARE TRYING TO MAKE US BELIEVE THEY
UNDERSTAND THE NESTED-BIGHT CYLINDRICAL KNOTS (NBCK ) WELL
ENOUGH TO MAKE A GOOD MADE IN USA SOFTWARE CALCULATING
THOSE KNOTS.(those guys have been trying for a long-long-long-long time, meanwhile for accumulating months ARIANE HAVE BEEN OF SERVICE TO KNOT-TYER WHO INVESTS ENOUGH TIME IN LEARNING ABOUT THOSE NBCK USING the help of SCHAAKE' and TURNER's works.

From time to time what appear at the first inattentive glance to be a "very impressive" grid appears on a certain web site.

Alas, triple alas ! when you look at it with your brains engaged so as to "see" it then you soon realise that those dishonest and/or ignorant persons are trying to make us believe they can make pigs fly !

Making a functionally valid software for nested-bight cylindrical knots (NBCK) does not need so much a so-called professional programmer ; that is not really the important part but it surely demands that this person have real intelligence of said knots ( read understanding, full knowledge) , that they really understand the subject they are attempting to treat.

Readers beware, know that those tricksters are in fact abysmally ignorant on that subject if we are to judge on their  published grids

2012 March--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Beginning of 2012 March this grid of theirs was sent to me by someone who was wanting my considered evaluation on its value and to compare it with what ARIANE can do.

ARIANE is a program which HAS BEEN REALLY AVAILABLE PUBLICLY FOR
MONTHS AND MONTHS and has been tested by a number of customers.

ARIANE was written by Claude HOCHET and I took the charge of a testing that I
made as vicious as possible to really push it.

First let us forget their idiot nomenclature which is absolute junk !
This one is ABSURDLY labelled 45x35 variated PK 4-PASS

Look attentively and you will see a bizarre mix of 1-PASS, 2-PASS, 3-PASS, 4-PASS
This mixture does not allow it to be labelled   '4-PASS' or that is being ignorant of the
concept of PASS in a NBCK.
Obviously this is just one (and the smallest)  of of their several point of utter ignorance on the subject.

They DO NOT KNOW what FACE / FACET are and confuse them with CROSSING !!!
They cannot even count PART/LEAD and BIGHT !!! HOW SILLY !
They counts are badly expressed and are mistaken!!!

See reality here
THEY CANNOT EVEN  EXPRESS THE COUNT OF BIGHTS IN
A PROPER NOMENCLATURE, THEY CANNOT EVEN COUNT
THEM RIGHT !

There are  12 BIGHT-NEST (BN)  with each 3 BIGHT so the sum total of BIGHT
CANNOT BE 35 BUT IS 36 !!!

In a REGULAR NESTED-BIGHT CK it is compulsory to NOT use the sum total
of BIGHT but to state the number of  BIGHT-NEST and their content in BIGHT.

Let us say how stupid it is to say 36 BIGHT to qualify the structure of their NBCK.

When instead of saying 12 BN of 3B you say 36B you show how abysmal your ignorance of those knots is.
Saying 36 B is saying utter literal NON-SENSE because in a NBCK asum total of 36B can come from

2 BN with 18 B
3 BN with 12 B
4 BN with 9 B
6 BN with 6 B
9 BN with 4 B
12 BN with 3B
18 BN with 2 B
36 BN with 1 B (a THK )
Which of the 36B ( sum total) are they making reference ?

It is very important to understand BIGHT-NEST as this concept is linked to BIGHT-RIM and BIGHT-RIM links to "Schaake's distance x".

THEY CANNOT EVEN VERIFY THE VALIDITY OF THEIR
DOODLES !

The very first "touch stone" test to execute is  to "close" the cylindrical knot. (in this vertical cylinder frame of reference just paste one  vertical side near the other side as if gluing the grid to form the cylinder.).

This will leads you to have that image.

They were not even bright enough to do some checking so in a hurry they were to launch their scam intended ( it appears to me ) to impress unaware persons.

AS IS EASILY SEEN THIS IS JUST A DISHONEST SLEIGHT OF HAND :
THERE EXISTS  NO PROPER CLOSING INTO A CYLINDER BECAUSE THE
GRID IS EGREGIOUSLY FALSE.

Try to count the FACET and you will see "the reality"

A word to the wise : throw all those grids on the junk pile till
they are able to make  something usable !

SECOND SCAM : A RECIDIVIST !

Scam was just recently reiterated if I believe what I was sent. (I refuse to go on that site that once was "good" but is just now a derelict hulk. so people try to keep me posted!)

Again a utterly absurd descriptive labelling, again the mistaken FACET count to which  we can add the mistaken herringbone pattern (this is NOT A PineApple K), the ignorance that with 2-STRAND you cannot have a 4-PASS Standard Herringbone Pineapple knot hence their ugly mixing of 4-PASS and 8-PASS they tried hiding from view by 'slicing' the cylinder in the middle of the 8-PASS.

They must really think that their readers are quite a lot  dumber that they, the tricksters, themselves are !

Guys still do not  not even know what a FACE/FACET is and confuse them with
CROSSING

They alleged a PINEAPPLE KNOT : silly !
It is certainly not corresponding to a PINEAPPLE but just an ugly assembly of two THK

Here is their grid.

Just "close the cylinder and you will see "the reality"

THE POOR DUMB ASSES CANNOT GET ANYTHING
STRAIGHT ! ALL IS MISTAKEN

For a 13 BIGHT-NEST 2 BIGHT that make a total count of 26 BIGHT and certainly
NOT 38 Bight.

There are NOT  38 PARTS but ONLY  36

Try to count FACET and you will see "the reality" there are NOT
884 FACETS
BUT 194 !

884 is the number of CROSSINGS.
Number of crossings is equal to number of facets ONLY IN
STRICTLY ALTERNATING CODING O1-U1.

A word to the wise : throw all those grids on the junk pile till they are
able to make  something usable !

THE POOR DUMB ASSES OVER THERE ARE AT IT AGAIN...
FOR THE THIRD TIME ...third is a  charm ?

They  reiterated with their incompetence a few hours ago with this
that (another)  correspondent sent to me

Here is their original grid

Here is a very quick survey of their grid

Same absurd labelling  48x27x3passX2nest

THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO STATE THE number  of PASS
the same dimension ) and here we find again the mixture of 1-PASS, 2-PASS, 3-PASS.

THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO SPECIFY BIGHT IN A NBCK

There are not 27 BIGHTS  but 9 BIGHT-NEST of each 3 BIGHT which is the correct way to identify which of the several 27B you  can have with NBCK : 3BN   9 B   or 9BN  3 B ?

THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO COUNT THE LEADS

NO ! NOT 48 LEADS BUT 44
Visibly those guys do not master the concept of "distance x"

A word to the wise : throw all those grids on the junk pile till they are able to make something usable !

Using grids made with one software that is really working, ARIANE here is how it is better to state things..

For the interested reader here is an exercise of "face/facet counting' on a grid with an
arbitrary pattern of crossing that unveil all the secrets of counting faces

I am so incenced by such an amount of stupidity thatI just hope I was not rendered stupid myself ( may be they are contagious ! ) and did not leave mistakes in my text
